DBT Skills

DBT Skills and Coaching MK offer training in the 4 core elements of DBT Therapy. These are the following skills:

Mindfulness:
Mindfulness refers to the practice of bringing ones mind to the present moment. This is a technique of recognizing when the mind is caught up in a thought and drawing it back to the present experience. DBT mindfulness adds another dimension to the traditional practice of mindfulness: mindfulness without judgment. By practicing non-judgmental present-focused awareness, you are able to attend to thoughts, feelings, and behaviours without engaging in the self-invalidation responsible for persistent emotion dysregulation. It sounds simple, but most people spend a very small portion of their day mindfully engaged in their lives. We usually tune out our actual experience, and get distracted by thoughts about our experience. Most of us get so conditioned to engaging with our thoughts rather than with reality, it is very easy for us to lose sight of what is actually happening to us, and consequently, how best to handle what is happening to us.

Emotion Regulation:
Emotion regulation is a dialectical behaviour therapy ( DBT ) skill to help us understand the function of emotions, the action urge that accompanies each emotion, and whether to heed or oppose these urges. Emotion regulation skills are useful in helping you better manage.

Interpersonal Effectiveness:
Interpersonal effectiveness is the main focus of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) In turn, the quality of our relationships and the outcomes of our interactions have a significant influence on our well-being, our sense of self-esteem and self-confidence, and our very understanding of who we are.

Distress Tolerance:
Distress tolerance skills refer to a type of intervention in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) where clients learn to manage distress in a healthy way. These skills are helpful for situations where a client might not be able to control a situation, but they need to manage their own response.

These Skills can help manage several you manage several diagnosis. These can be:

*Anxiety
*Self Harm
*Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)
*Emotional Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD)
*Self Harm
*Suicidal Tendencies
